SHC provides a strong community to its members. Each house is self-governing, which is to say that every member has a lot more responsibility than someone who lives in tenant-owned housing or on-campus dormitories. Conversely, living in the co-ops is much more rewarding. We feel that it is a great privilege that we get to live in a progressive and democratic system where we make our own decisions.

Here are just a few other reasons to live here:

2. Live in non-profit and, by extension, affordable housing
3. Create friendships and bonds that last a lifetime
4. Be involved in both the East Lansing and Lansing communities
5. Live on your own without being alone
